Nursery & Reception - Pixies, Sprites and Unicorns

Spring 2019

Our topic this term is Traditional Tales.

The children will be participating with our ‘WOW’ day by watching the pantomime ‘Peter Pan’  - this will be followed by reading various stories i.e The Gingerbread Man , Three Billy Goats Gruff, Jack and the Beanstalk and Cinderella. We will be learning to retell the stories using Pie Corbett actions, writing story maps, rhyming words, captions, story sequence and looking at good and bad characters.

In Numeracy we will be looking at numerous number and shape, space and measure activities  i.e number order, addition / subtraction using number lines and looking at the features of 2d/3d shapes and telling the time to the O’clock and half past the hour.

We will also be covering Celebrations i.e  Chinese New Year, Shrove Tuesday, Mothers Day, and participating in various Easter activities.

Our traditional tales topic will end with a Fairy-tale Ball - children will be able to come to school dressed as their favourite fairy tale story character.
