This evening I saw at Cooks Spinney School a fantastic school newspaper entirely written by the children. I thought, yes! That's just what we mean when we say schools can spend a %ge of their time being publishing and performing houses.

Year 4 - Kestrels and Rabbits

Year 4 Newsletter

Welcome back Parents and Carers. We hope you had an enjoyable Christmas break and are ready for a great school year.

We are looking forward to working together as a partnership to help your child reach their full potential. If you have any questions or concerns please come in and see us.

Literacy

This term our class novels are “Beowulf” by Rob Lloyd Jones and “Why the Wales came.” by Michael Morpurgo. These books will support our learning through Literacy and our history topic of Invaders and Settlers and our science topic of sound.

Homework

Homework tasks including spellings will now be set weekly on Mathletics and Reading Eggs. If you’re experiencing trouble with logging on please do not hesitate to contact the office.

Reading

Please listen to and encourage your child to read at home. It is helpful to discuss the content of the books with your child, to develop their comprehension skills and understanding.

Science

Our topics for this spring term are states of matter and sound. We will be looking at changes of matter e.g. evaporation and condensation. In sound we will be learning about how sound is made and patterns in pitch and volume.

PE will be as follows:

Kestrels – Wednesday, Thursday

Rabbits- Wednesday, Thursday

We are looking forward to a great term working with you and your child.

Thank you for your support.

The Year 4 Team
