Our excellent year 6 Netball team worked tirelessly till the final whistle and only lost out narrowly by a 1-0 defeat in our last game of the day. Their team spirit and never say die attitude was amazing. So proud of them. https://t.co/sGJOlESydb

Year 5 - Adders and Foxes

Summer 2019

Welcome back to what we hope was a lovely Easter holiday! Please note the updated information needed to continue making this year as successful as possible.

Curriculum

This half term our topic is India. This topic is linked into our Geography & Arts curriculum.   After the half term break, the next topic will be Natural Planet Earth.  More information will follow closer to the time.

P.E.

Year 5 P.E. days continue to be:

Foxes: Mondays and Tuesdays

Adders: Tuesdays and Thursdays

Your child must have their P.E. kit on these days. Failure to have it is likely to result in them not being able to participate in the lesson. In addition, children will not be able to participate if they do not have the correct P.E. kit. Please see the school website for more information on the P.E. kit requirements. If your child has their ears pierced, they will be required to either take out the earrings or cover them with tape for the lesson. Please remember Cooks Spinney only allows small stud earrings in school.

Homework

As you may be aware, Cooks Spinney has adopted an online homework policy.  Your child’s Mathletics homework will still be assigned on Thursdays.  Reading Eggs is optional, however we do encourage children to read with an adult at least 3 times per week to build up their vocabulary and comprehension skills.  If you do not have access to the internet at home, an after-school homework club held on Fridays is up and running, as well as a Thursday lunch-time homework club.  Please enquire with the reception office to secure a space for your child.

Any queries please don’t hesitate to ask on of the Year 5 team.

Yours faithfully,

Mr Beaumont, Mr Lucas and Mrs Whitbread
